I have an '84 Hunter 31. It appears that the heating element in the water heater went out on me this summer. The heater is an Atwood EHM6-SM 6 Gallon wtih a 1500w element. Anyone have any parts sources for this animal ? or how interchangable is the element ? I have been to the Atwood site, and this model doesnt register -- they seem to make mostly RV gear. Amazingly, a search of the archives here turned up zilch !! If someone can shed some light on tihis, that would be great. Duane

Call Atwood.

I also had the same problem with trying to get a thermostat for my water heater. I spent alot of fruitless time with local RV dealer. I then called Attwood directly and the part was arrived within a few days.

Hardware store?

The element on the hot water heater on my 1981 H33 also gave up last summer. I don't know the brand, but I was able to get a replacement part at my local hardware (home building) store here in Rochester. They didn't have the exact type, so had to get a flange conversion kit also. Just matched up the voltage and wattage. Worked fine the rest of the summer. Good luck. Most heating elements interchangeable

They don't change much over the years, either. Atwood is still very much in the marine business, but there's no difference between the water heater on your boat and the same type of water heater on an RV. So give 'em a call...if they don't still make water heaters, check with the Raritan (www.raritaneng.com) . I'm 99% certain their heating elements will fit your tank.
