Jon,
I have used the hot water heater off shore power, and figured that if there were an internal issue that would either show it or clear it up. I hope to run the engine tomorrow afternoon and find that it works fine.
Thanks for asking.

No loop in mine, splax- looks like they just didn't feed the whole thing in. I split a 6" piece and put it over the hose where it feeds thru the hole in the girder to protect the hose from wear.

........I only ran the engine for ten minutes, but I expect water would have warmed some by that time. I was not looking for hot water, but to see if the heater was operating correctly.
10 minutes, even at 2800 rpm or higher ain't gonna do it. Ever. It's a heat transfer issue. Takes 10 minutes to get the coolant hot enough to start heating the domestic (potable) water anyway.

BTW, good definitions, wish some would use it in describing their issues and types of engines!!!

I think what everyone is trying to say is that there is a thermostat in the engine. It needs to be very hot before it will open and circulate coolant.

On my set up there are 2 flushing adapters, near the Yanmar, in the water heater line so that you can purge the air out of the water heater loop.

Good luck
