I recently bought a 1993 31' Beneteau with an 18hp FWC 2002 diesel engine.I am in the process of replacing the water heater and found that the current water heater is hooked up to the raw water cooling side of the engine. This is probably why the heater failed. The instructions for the new water heater states that the heater exchanger should be hooked up only to the fresh water side of the engine because of the aluminum exchanger in the water heater.I can not find any connections on the fresh water side to hookup to. It looks like I would need to cut into the fresh water cooling tubes that are on the outside of the heat exchanger.Has anyone hooked up a water heater to this engine before?
