I've searched the archives and think I have the answer, but can anyone verify that when I hook up my new hot water heater to the sealed-side of my heat exchanger, the hose goes from the heat exchanger, past the pump to the water heater, then back to rejoin the coolant that's just cooled the engine, then back to the heat exchanger. Does that sound right?

water heater hook up

Matt- maybe I don't understand what you are trying to say but I think you will find the water hose hook up at the thermostat housing to the hot water heater and return to the engine, sorry I just don't remember how the hose returns but it is near the water pump and thermostat housing. It does not (at least on my boat) hook up to the engine heat exchanger. Wish I could be more helpful,I think you need to do more research.

Heater hook-up

Matt, if I remenber correctly, on my 3GMF, the water heater hoses hook up on either side of the thermostat housing and not on the heat exchanger. In any case, I plan to go to the boat this week-end. I can take a picture and post it for you if you can wait 'til then.

more specific

I may have confused my question but here's the layout: A hose goes from the exchanger to the pump, and splices from there to the engine, and then a hose goes out toward the heater. Above the pump, a hose returns to the exchanger, and another hose splices off of there toward the heater. The thermostat (I think) is found near that second hose -- according to the yanmar manual, if i'm reading it right). So I'm trying to figure out which of those 2 spliced-off hoses is the heater "in" and which is the return. Does that help clarify?
