Water ballast odor

I've identified an odor coming from my water ballast tank. I added Clorox when I launched the boat almost 2 years ago and have not had a problem until now. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I add another gallon of Clorox or should I pull the boat out, drain the ballast tank and then relaunch. I'm open for suggestions.Thanks,

Pull It

Not sure if it is a hassel for you to pull it out where you are. I pull mine out every six months or so wether it needs it or not, and then refill with a hose and city water along with the Clorox. On the other hand bleach is cheap enough to give it a try.

Smith Mountain Lake

Barry;You are probabbly sailing one of my boats. I know Smith Mountain Lake too well. Rick Webb's suggestion is a good one for the lake. I do not know which Marina you are at but the major sailboat marinas do have the ramps for you to pull your boat out with. Matter of fact, Roanoke was home for many years and I do miss my daughter who lives there and the mountains. Got to run as I have to head out for Pelican Point this morning.Crazy Dave

brownian movement

Before pulling out you might just open the valve and let the water exchange itself as it will by borwian movement of molecules. Then add Clorox or I use ganular chlorine like for a hot tub or pool. If you pull it out it might be a good idea to flush out the tank with fresh water before putting back in the water.Corky
