I am thinking of buying a water ballasted 260 and do not have access to a vessel to look at. Is the water ballast area accessable to be antifouled? If not, how do you stop the fouling inside that compartment when left in the water for a few weeks?

Add bleach ?

My boat is in salt water. I would be reluctant to add bleach until I knew a more about what kind of resultant "cocktail" I was mixing. But I have the same concern. I will watch for other answers.

primordial soup

I bought the boat last year. Water got on top of the ballast tank when it was launched. Each time I healed it would go to the new low areas, under the sinks and setees. At the time I did not know that it was from the top of the tank. Therefore, I did not put bleach in it because I wanted to dye the water to see if it was from there. By the time I was sure the ballast tank was not leaking, about three months, it was already ripe. However, we could not smell it unless the inspection port was opened. I leave the boat in salt water from March to December. alan
