This is my first year with my MacGregor and I am planning on keeping it in a slip most of the winter. Have there been issues with freezing water cracking the water ballast tank? I was thinking I should drain it and put some anti-freeze in the tank. Any comments?

Does your dock freeze?

If it were me, I wouldn't leave it in. I don't leave mine in the slip - it goes in the storage yard over the winter. Definitely blow out the ballast! You may even need bubblers. I have no experience at this.

Yup, blow out the ballast tank

Justin is on it here. Blow out the ballast and talk to your marina mgr. If they allow bubbling or de-icers they may have a deal for you but you'll need either high pressure air or electric to run the de-icers. Definately keep all water lines clear and occaisionally sponge out any water collection from condensation to prevent freeze cracking. You could pour some RV antifreeze in the holds where water collects to prevent a hard freeze and just pump it out come Spring. Steve P.
