Water and Waste Deck Caps

The water fill caps on the deck of my 1982 Catalina 30 are an odd size and I can't seem to find replacements. My guess is they are 1 5/8" but the only ones I can find are 1 1/2" and 2" caps.
I also need a new cap for the deck waste outlet which is slightly larger than the water cap.
Any help in identifying the right size and/or a vendor that supplies them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick

You may have to replace the whole fitting because through about 1982 or 83, the standard thread size was 16 tpi (threads per inch) and diameter of the threaded opening of a 1.5" deck fill was 1.25". Today the standard diameter for the threaded opening in a 1.5" deck fill is still 1.25", but the threads are 11 tpi....for EVERYthing.

I had to replace a 1980 waste tank cap...NObody had any 16 tpi deck fill caps, not even any of the wholesalers I could buy from then...only solution: replace the whole fitting. Whether you'll have to or not depends on when the standard changed...a 1982 boat is right on the "cusp."

I found pvc threaded plugs at Ace Hardware that worked in my '79 Cherubini. Had about a 1 inch square boss on the top. When I got tired of stubbing my toe, I did as Peggy said and replaced the entire fitting with 21st century stuff.
