Waste holding tank location?

I am adding a waste holding system for my 79' Hunter 27 and wanted to know where other Hunter owners have placed their waste tanks and size specifications. I purchased the boat used and it has a marine head but it is plumbed for direct discharge overboard. I have to add a holding tank etc... including a thru deck fitting for pump out. Any and all thoughts/experiences would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

You'll find answers to a lot of your questions in

the articles in the Headmistress forum reference library (on the forum homepage). Where you actually put it depends upon where space is available within 6-8' of the toilet. Aim for the straightest, least complex plumbing possible as you look for space.

On mine it's factory installed, under v berth, starboard side, 12.5 gal. with a large multi bolted lid and a 3" access hatch, parallel to water tank fwd of thru hull.
