Hi Peggi, I just bought a '93 Hunter 27 with a pumpable porta-potti and a holding tank. The boat was not very clean and there is waste in the porta-potti. YUK! The connection hose is in middle of the 5.6 gallon portable tank. How do I pump it from there to the holding tank? I searched for a switch or manual pump, but cannot find one? Thanks, Dan

In order to transfer the waste from the portapotty

tank to the holding tank, there has to be a pump in the line that connects them. If you've traced the whole hose and can't find one, there isn't one. You said the portapotty tank is portable, not permanently mounted... I wonder if the previous owner just lifted it up high enough to let gravity transfer the waste. A REALLY dumb way to do it...but if there's no pump, I can't think of any other way. The portapotty tank has waste in it...Can you tell whether the holding tank has ever been used?

portable tank is permanent

The portable tank is installed permanently. Not moveable. The holding tank was installed by the factory I was told. I was thinking maybe if I pump the permanent tank, it will suck the porta potti tank as well. Is there another Hunter 27 owner out there with the same set up? What am I missing? Thanks, Dan

What you're missing is a pump! :)

Pumping out the holding tank won't empty the portapotty. And btw...is the portapotty tank vented? There IS one other possibility: it's all downhill from the portapotty to the tank, and there's a shut-off valve in that line that the previous owner just opened and let gravity transfer the waste from the portapotty to the larger tank. Without a pump, there's no other way (and that's not something I'd recommend!) Wild thought: is that hose new? Or is there a break in it that's been joined? If so...I wonder...could the previous owner have been so cheap that he took the pump out???? If you haven't traced the entire hose from the portapotty tank to the holding tank, you have to do that...it's the only way you're gonna find out what you've got and how to deal with it.
