Waste cap on deck

Has anyone replaced the waste deck fitting and Cap? I need to replace mine and need to know that if I unscrew the three screws is there enough play to pull the hose up without having the unfasten the hose from the waste tank?

This could be an easy job or a very difficult one.

can you not get to the hose connection on the deck fitting ...if you can just disconnect it from there and replace the deck fitting ...reseal the deck fitting tighten the clamps screw it down and clean up ...and go sailing

You'll have disconnect the hose from the deck fitting 'cuz you wouldn't be able to get the hose clamp through the hole in the deck if there is enough play in the hose to pull it out. Removing the hose isn't a difficult job...remove the hose clamp, warm the end of the hose a bit with blow dryer and it should come off with minimal effort. I would make the sure the tank is empty and has also been THOROUGHLY rinsed out before doing this, however. Warm the hose a little again, smear a little dishwashing liquid--or better yet, K-Y jelly on both the inside of the hose and the barb on the new fitting and the hose should go onto with reasonable effort. Replace the hose clamp--and add a second one if there aren't already two (all sanitation hose connections should be double clamped, with the screws on opposite sides of the hose, or at least 90 degrees apart if 180 isn't possible)...and you're done.

A dive into the sail locker is required and a heat gun its your friend, on ours the hose required quite a bit of heat to be fitted.

Open the port side cockpit locker. Take all the junk out. Climb down inside. Look up at the waste and fuel fittings in port forward corner. On mine u can also see the back of the shore power connector.

Are you replacing the hose? It's usually easier to cut the hose off if its been on there a long time. If you're not replacing it, and you cut it, it probably won't be long enough to put it back on. Sanitation hose is expensive, and they didn't put any more in there than they had to.
