I picked up an "electric fly swatter" http://www.harborfreight.com/electronic-fly-swatter-40122.html at HF last week and apparently the word got out because I hadn't seen any of the brown wasps that usually reside on my boat until this afternoon.
I brought it up on deck where I was messing with a sail-tie-bungee thing I had made and a wasp showed up. I chased it around the deck for a couple of minutes and it disappeared, a few minutes later it was back and buzzed me. When I made contact there was a bug zapper "snap" and I couldn't find the wasp. Probably batted it into the water.
I'm happy with my $2.99 purchase. Just don't touch the metal parts when the button is pushed in.
It's light weight and probably won't last but what the heck, it's cheaper than a happy meal!

They're fun but they're hard and they break, and break things, when you try to hit the moving target. Very satisfying though when hear that zap.

My boat apparently came with one. Let me tell you what NOT to do! Don't pack it in a cluttered box with the batteries still in. Scared the crap out of me looking for caulk. Some stuff had the button down and silly me just puttering through looking for caulk. I bet it would have made a funny YouTube video. It was more startling than painful but not recommended for first thing in the morning before coffee! SC

walmart--isnt tooo far from me-- a car ride or bus ride-- thankyou!!!!! will look next time i go, should be soon...need cat litter lol

Very much so. I didn't need coffee that day. My DH who packed said box nearly wet his pants when I told him what happened. The day was full of electrified ?puns. If you can't find one let me know. I think I can dig through a box and send one far far away! I have a Harbor Freight retail store on my way to the boat. SC

I use mine for spiders! go out on deck just at dusk when they start making their webs and nail the beggers. They don't zap as much as smell like burning hair?! Very satisfying!

lol i have many bugs here in pair a dice--i think they think they are pets.....they all live outside, thank gods, but they are definitely here..... this will be FUN!!!!!

We went out sailing and one of our guests had this shootag thing on. it was just a small tag he wore thathad no chemicals. The guy did not get any mosquito bites! We could not beleive it, as we were spraying continunally. Wow, thought this would help! I am getting some this week! It would make our sailing days way nicer. Has anyone heard of these or used them?

WANT ONE A DOZE also...
and what size does wasp need to be for the zapper thing--we have some here about 2 inches scary long..... dang, pair a dice needs to have a goood bug zapper!

The instructions didn't say anything about zapping birds but it might work:).

bubba gets the real feathered birds, but the insect ones need to be done away with fast.....

I love the bug zapper. I have two onboard. Especially when i get a fly and zap the hell out of it until a little puff of smoke appears. The smoke is a warning for all the other flies around :). I think it works...

bugs down here are essentially helicopters..... similar in size-- will it work for those......as long as i dont get a hummingbird by accident.....
