My wife says the sailors on the internet are the smartest people, so go ask them how to get the wasp nest residue off our Navy Blue Bimini. I cleaned the dirt dauber mud off easily with water and mild detergent, but the wasp nests (many) left half dollar size patches of organic material that does not readily come off. Anyone have an idea on how to get it off without causing color fade or damage? Thanks

Hogan: I was talking with the fellow that made our dodger and they actually powerwash old sunbrella to get the dirt out of it before they try resewing it. I guess that the dirt in the fabric eats the sewing machine needles. So that is something that you can try. I would suggest a low setting to start with. All of the other cleaning methods are obviously worth trying first.

nests and some use mud. They all mix the basic material with saliva. Saliva is a complex material with some proteins involved so removal is also a bit complicated. No one has mentioned that a scrub brush and some detergent could be effective so I shall. Treat it as though it were dried egg yolk or hamburger drippings from your last sloppy guest. Just apply a little elbow grease and some soapy water and it will probably come clean.
