Catalina 30 Gibralter Boat Yard
'73 Catalina 30. Replaced prop this season. There was no washer between the castle nut and the prop. All other sailboats in the yard have one or two ss washers installed. I am having a difficult time finding a ss washer with a 1" inner diameter. So the question is... does it have to be there?

As always your inputs are greatly valued.

Do it as if you had hired a professional, did not find a washer, no washer. What material is the prop? Don't want dissimilar metals corrosion. Read somewhere there are no real Bronze props, they are more like Brass.

I don’t have your type of boat, but I don’t have a washer between my prop and nut.

I have a fixed, 2 blade prop.

Prop is verified bronze. Also, boat is in fresh water so corrosion is a factor but at a reduced threat level.

Just changed the prop on my wakeboard boat this weekend, SS shaft, brass alloy prop, brass castle nut, no washer. I think you good.
