warranty

I have owned a 26.5,30,35,37.5 and now a 40.5 I have had several warranty situations and all have been handeled well. Had a holding tank blow on my 35.5 they sent a new one and paid for the replacement. I purchased the boat from a dealer 500 miles away and hired a local to commision it. They paid him for the labour on the replacement of the holding tank.It can be hard getting through to a human at the factory. Sounds like you have adealer problem.

Probably the dealer

I have found a huge difference in between the way Hunter dealers handle customers and how Hunter themselves handle customers. It really sends a mixed message to the client. You could not even say that my dealer knew what the word customer service means, however the factory is downright proactive when it comes to informational, and warranty issues. It sounds like your dealer was coordinating everything. I have found that you must take an active role when getting the factory to perform an action, and simply treat your dealer as an independent yard. So, for example, I would have had Hunter pay me first for the work and replacement. Then I would use those funds to find the best yard for the work (going completely around the dealer). From my experience, this seems to be the only way to enjoy your relationship with Hunter. You will find that Hunter does such a good CS job, you eventually will not need your dealer. All you really need is a good yard (also, a very difficult task, but it can be done). Best of luck! Gerry P.S. It is quite a haul, but Lockwood Boat Works in Morgans NJ has to be the finest yard I have found on the east coast for sailboats in general. I know it is a haul for you in CT, but they are so good, I thought I would mention it.

Warranty Issues

In 1995, I experienced similar problems with this same dealer's non responsiveness to warranty issues. I told Hunter if I had to deal with this dealer, my next boat wouldn't be a Hunter. Hunter, to their credit, stood by their product and reimbursed me for the cost of the repairs after I got them a couple quotes. The reimbursement was quite fast - only a week or so after I sent them the documentation.

Hunter customer support is the best!

If you contact the Hunter customer support team either via email (see Factory Connection) or phone, you'll get a response so quickly it'll make your head spin. Greg and Eddie there are two reasons that I'd buy another Hunter in a heartbeat.
