Any ideas on how to de-warp/un-warp the pull-up panel in the cabin sole over the bilge pump on my 28.5? Nothing major, but it turns up slightly at either end and lifts the panel higher any time you step on one end or the other. More of a PITA than anything!!! I've tried just flipping it over for extended periods which stops the "rocking", but I'm guessing there might be a way to straighten it out. Thanks

try this

I would suggest try putting a heavy weight on the thing to flatten it, and then sticking it in a steam box for a few hours. Almost all wooden boat builders have steam boxes. Alternatively (and perhaps more easily), you could just buy or build a new panel. MC

No steam box?

Marc: If you cannot find a steam box you can try to reverse what probably happened originally. Wet the cover and place heavy weights on it and let it dry with the weights in place. on a flat surface. If that does not work just replace it. You may be able to order the teak from Hunter and then just trim it. Hunter may also have one already made up for your boat or maybe they can just make one in their shop.

No need to replace

Just find out where the high spots are on the wood that are hitting the fiberglass perimeter, and grind down the wood in those spots. A belt sander or router would work. Roc

What if it's not warped?

it might be the support surface is crooked. I'd check all the edges of the support surface for "stuff" and if any wood is supporting the panel then check it for warpage (is that a word?) or looseness UNLESS you've already placed the panel on a perfectly flat surface and verified that it is, in fact, warped.
