I have a 1999 381 Beneteau, and two of the floorboards in the salon are warped enough that they lift up slightly on one end when you step on the opposite end. This seems to be a common problem with the Beneteau boats because I have experienced the same thing on several boats that I have charted in the BVIs. Anyone have any solutions other than replacing the boards? I removed them for the winter and placed heavy weights on either end and a wooden dowels under the middle of each one, but I have my doubts as to whether or not this will solve the problem. Thanks, Sandman

How warped is warped?

The floor boards in my 2002 B361 became slightly warped and it was annoying because they made noise everytime you stepped on them. The warpage was slight..I'd say only about an eighth of an inch. So I solved it by adding thick felt dots under the corners that were sticking up. It took a little time and trial and error, but now my floorboards are quite when I walk on them. I got the dots in varying thicknesses at the hardware store. This might not work if the warpage is significant. Agaliha

Beneteau 361

I have the same issue on my 2002 Beneteau 361 and corrected it with industrial strength velcro. The cost of installing quick release latches was too much so I cut small pieces of industrial strength velcro, bought at Home Depot, and placed them at each corner of the boards. Works great and is CHEAP!!

Reply to Stan

Stan, How did you attach the velcro without it causing the floorboard to be higher than the rest of the cabin sole? I thought about doing the same thing but I envisioned having to attach blocks of wood or some other material near each corner with the tops of the blocks lower enough to make up for the thickness of the velcro. Thanks, sandman

Use screws

I used countersunk stainless flathead screws to hold mine in on my old Bene. Only takes 4-6 per board, depending upon the size of the board. Ironically, my new beneteau has its floor boards screwed in using the same method.

reply to Mac about using screws

Mac, I guess I should have mentioned that the two boards that are involved are the ones that give you access to things like the bilge pump pick-up hose, A/C seacock etc. Therefore, I need to be able to open them up at a moments notice. Thanks, Sandman

Quarter Turn Fasteners

How about quarter turn flush mount dzus fasteners. We saw them at the Seattle Boat Show.

Creaky Floorboards

I had clunky creaky floorboards on my B390. I cut an old car tire inner tube into one inch squares and then glued the squares to the underside corner of each floorboard. Problem solved. Quiet now when you step on them. This solution would probably not work if the warpage was severe.

Velcro

The velcro I bought at Home Depot had industrial strength on one side. I cut four small pieces, one for each corner. I used them on "all" the floor boards so the height is not an issue.

Steam,

The oldest technology for bending or in this case unbending wood is steam. Try steaming the underside and then put books on it to hold the boards in place while it cools. I used this to bend pieces but not tried it in this application but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Lots of little steam cleaners on the market. Other than that, buy new veneered marine ply and use the existing boards as templates. Lots of sources on the internet. It will probably be cheaper than going to Beneteau factory. Good luck.
