Warning Buzzer

I just replaced the instrument panel on my 84 H31. In doing so I disconnected the wiring harness. When I reinstalled everything I pluged the harness back together(pretty fool proff since it only goes together one way). Now the warning buzzer won't quit sounding after the motor has started, and only the "charge Light" comes on. The only thing I did different in the reinstallation was reconnect a white/blue wire(which had been cut)to the toggel switch. I traced this wire to the water sending unit. Thinking maybe the toggel switch was bad, I disconnected it, but the buzzer still sounds. Then I disconnected the water and oil sending units, but still the buzzer sounds. Before all of this, the buzzer only sounded when the key was turned on but quickly stopped when the motor was started. It also sounded as the oil pressure drops when the motor is shut down and the key on. The only thing I haven't done is check the alternator to make sure it is charging. Any other suggestions would greatly be apppreciated. Thanks, Bob

I think it's one of the ground wires at the engine or one of the plugs at the engine. I used to have to jiggle mine at the engine. I know it doesn't make sense but the problem would go away.

Bob, Being in the automotive field and having seen some crazy things, I suggest you compare the wires from your old panel to the position of the wires in the plug connector of your new panel. It is not unheard of the manufacturer installing a wire in the wrong pin of a harness connector. The buzzer works when it receives a ground signal. Something is sending a ground to the buzzer circuit and the fact that only your charge light works seems to point to mis connected wires. If you have a diagram of the wire colors you can match them to their repsective locations. -Doug s/v BrendaGail -Doug
