Others will probably disagree, but I have found the warm lights to be far better in illuminating a more natural color palette. I had several with cool and found it would wash out some text and my wife hated them. Your results may vary.

PS: this is who I use. There are hundreds of sources. This probably is not the best but has been a decent combination of quality, service, responsiveness and price.

Also has anyone had any problems with the LED's made in China. The companys that are made in USA really put down the overseas made.

I own a millwork and cabinet shop. We use Cool White LEDs in china hutches or jewelry display cases and Warm White LEDS for under-cabinet lighting or living area lights.

I bought all my LEDs from China. After much experimentation I ended up with warm white. The email for my source is laoma888666@yahoo.com.cn The important thing is to get bulbs that will handle 14v. Most of the China bulbs will not but I found one that would. You can search the net and send the vendors emails asking if they can handle 14V. If you don't get the higher voltage rating the bulbs may melt when you charge a discharged system. I have been cruising all summer and I am very happy with my LEDs. Most of my interior lights are G4. The cost around $3.00 each.

I use the cool lights because I like their looks. (looks like day light) but I think for reading the warm lights are better.I think Sesmith called it right.Cool white is best for outside and warm for inside.I am still going to stick with cool white for both.

Definitely like the warm whites better. Look for the wide voltage range bulbs since that indicates a voltage regulator.. I especially like this bulb which I have in my main cabin dome fixtures. http://store.marinebeam.com/g4-led-replacement-bulb-red-warm-white.html When you switch it on, it comes on red for night, then if ya turn it off and back on again (within 4 seconds or so), it is a normal white.. I put them in a fixture that has two circuits, formerly one red and one white.. Put a lower lumens warm white in the other circuit so I have red or bright warm white .. then on the other circuit less intense warm white.
Have bought bulbs from these guys http://www.ledwholesalers.com/store/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=72
along with the bases to allow use of a G4 in a bayonet base. just make sure the bulbs have the wide volts range and don't say "12V"

indeed LED can get pretty hot. i saw on youtube someone experiment on china LED and showing it melted. i ran similar test. it gets pretty hot and the smt resistor started to move after apply 14.6v for 1 minute. still i uses it but with caution that i shouldn't subject it to >14V for long.
