The bow eye on my 1994 23.5 was beginning to pull out so I decided to do a repair/reenforecment using Ward's tried and true method of repair. Upon removing the access cover in the v-berth I found that there was a cheesy little stainless steel reenforcing plate that was starting to compress into a small block of wood glassed into the bow as the reenforcement. I could also see where one of the previous owners tried to seal it up with some silicone. Anyway, I bought a 1 inch diameter by 10 inch long piece of galvenized pipe and drilled it to match the bow eye bolt. After cleaning everything with acetone, I did a dry prefit with everything and the 1 inch diameter pipe fit quite nicely in there (a 1 1/4 inch dia might squeeze in the bow but I didn't try) I took everything out and glopped the area with 5200 as well as the bow eye holes and put it all back together and tigntened her down. That baby isn't going anywhere now! You could probably just silicone to seal it up but I decided that I wanted this to stay put FOREVER so I opted for the 5200. As an aside I also changed out the nylon strap on my trailer winch for a galvanized cable to eliminate the stretching and make sure that boat pulls al the way up into the v notch on the trailer. I would recommend this repair to anyone that trailers their boat. Thanks for the idea Ward!Jonathan CostelloHeeling Powers
