My O'day 222 sails are as soft as a bed sheet, but I don't want to spend too much money on brand new sails.

Or- does any one know any websites or sail lofts that sell lightly used sails?

I look forward to your reply.
Thanks!!!

Oday 20 My garage
Hello,

I recently found a brand new sail on eBay for my oday 20. The company that built the sail is called somerset sails out of New York. I was skeptical at first because the sail was only $375 shipped but when I questioned the guy about their fabric and if it was domestic he explained the entire process to me and said it was spun locally. So far I love the sail and he also said he'd make me a genoa for around $250. Pretty good deal I thought.

Spring commissioning

Oh, believe me, Jersey Girl, work continues apace. :) or maybe

I've got my 192 all polished and waxed, except for serious non-skid scrubdown and Woody Wax. I've removed and replaced the hatch sliders. Sanded down the drop board retainers and toe rails, and first coat of Cetol Natural Light went on last night. (Hoping for no rain and second coat tonight.) The mast has been washed, waxed, and turnbuckle threads lubed with pure lanolin. Still need to install new running rigging. Swim ladder was removed for polishing the transom, and I've made a new plywood backer, which I may or may not like when the mounting bolts are cinched down. I've removed the crappy Shaefer fairlead jib sheet cleats, and I'm ready to install Viadana high angle cam cleats (same design as Harken H150's, half the price.) LED bulbs for nav lights received or ordered (the mast steaming light and stern light are ready to go, I figure I can replace the bow light whenever that bulb arrives.) Of course, I have to take apart the steaming light plug and put new heatshrink tubing on it, because the insulation is badly cracked. And pick up a new battery - I think I'll use a tractor battery for ease of removal and recharging at home (it's a lake boat, battery only for nav lights.) I need to rig hardware and cleats on boom for a real topping lift - not the dangerous backstay pigtail type. Need to rig a jib downhaul. Need to touch up waterline bottom paint. Need to install rudder up- and down- haul cleats on the tiller, and clam cleats on coaming for Wavefront Marine Tiller Clutch. And final big deal is to get the boat to my friend's lift, so I can replace the centerboard painter line.

Depending on weather, I might get all this finished in time to splash Sunday following this weekend. DOH!

Brian

Thanks everyone!

HA! Warm weather?!?! You funny.... cripes, it is currently snowing here in Minneapolis... supposed to get around 5". Lake is still frozen solid. Been too cold, wet, and miserable to do any work on the boat. :cussing: The last few years I was already sailing this time of year..... not one of those springs this year. Maybe getting finally back to regular weather next week.

rs - I had previously posted a similar list over at trailersailers, and I had to go find it and print it out, because I suddenly suspected I was forgetting a few items :)

Once I found it, I was pleased I was able to cross off roughly half the list!

Here's hoping I can cross off more this weekend!

Look around for used parts warehouses in your area. St Augustine, FL has a big sailboat parts salvage over near King Street. Lots of used stuff. You might be able to find a similar place up there if the hurricane didn't get it.
