I would like to replace the galley sink faucet in my 2000 340. Are the water connections the same as a home faucet? Beside Home Depot's etc. where else is there a nice selection of faucets?

So far - yes.

I'm in the process of replacing the original galley faucet on my 1983 Hunter 34. The connections and hardware are the same as the type used in homes. In my case, I found a nice new one on ebay for about 1/2 the price of the same one at Home Depot. ~ Happy sails to you ~ _/) ~

Home Depot

I just finished replacing our galley facet and bath facet from home depot. I went with a glacier brand with antique white porcelin handles for the bath for 40 bucks and a white single handle with side sprayer from american std for 100 bucks for the galley. nice little upgrade and very easy to install with no new fitttings but alittle drilling in the galley because the holes are 8 inches apart instead of 4. 1987 34 hunter. craig

I replaced mine with this one from

Camping World. I wanted a single lever and white so I did not have to deal with water spots, etc. You can add sprayer if you desire. If you want to see what it looks like installed go to Photo forum and look at "H34 Galley Closeup". You can also obtain in Chrome if you want. Look at faucets on the website.

Photo Forum

I replaced the faucet a few weeks ago on my 1981 H33. You can find a few photos on the Photo Forum by clicking the link below. To answer your question: The faucet, bought from Home Depot, was a 4-inch "bar-type" faucet. The brand I bought was American Standard. The dimensions fit exactly as well as the hose fittings. I was going to replace the plastic 1-foot hoses that were attached to the waterline hoses from the boat plumbing, but discovered that the standard flex hose bought at the hardware stores and Home Depot use a different size fitting on the "boat" side of the plumbing. I ended up re-using what was attached to the old faucet as seen in the second photo. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

Unique Installation

We replaced ours with a single lever and pull-out head from Depot. We discovered that the unit used by Hunter has an unique shape and therefore the hole in the corian counter was cut to that shape. We also discovered the need for a basin wrench. You will need this special wrench to remove the nut holding the faucet to the counter. Then you will need to bore out the remaining hole to accept the new faucet. It wasn't difficult but it was time consuming.

Just did mine yesterday

Just did this yesterday (6/3/03), I replaced mine with a two piece unit (the spigot and handle are separate). We had alot of splashing and spraying from ours, even with different end pieces and water savers added. The 2 holes in the corian counter IS cut to fit there brand of faucet. Some minor file work and the new setup went right in. (Look for a faucet that requires 1 1/4 " hole) As Jay said, you will need a basin wrench, it's very tight quarters under there. You may have to cut back some of the end of the supply line (hot and cold)after the ferrel. They left it long and it doesn't allow for the nut to tighten completely onto the new faucet.
