The steering wheel on our Beneteau 393 is 41" diameter and so close to the cockpit side seats that it is difficult to get around it going fwd or aft , from or to, the the wheel area. Wish to replace it with something that is around 35 or 36 inches dia The make I believe is from France , ( "Goiot" ) . Has anyone ever sized down their wheel?? . Any recommendations on a source for such a thing ???? Would love to hear.

Lewmar folding wheel
The first thing I bought for our new 393 was a folding wheel. As mentioned, there is not sufficient room to pass the wheel safely. The Lewmar wheel is just a little smaller and when in port, the wheel folds to allow easy passage. I bought it from Defender Industries www.defender.com Jim

Second the Lewmar Folding Wheel
I also "upgraded" to the 42" Lewmar folding wheel this past year-one of the best upgrades I have made to the boat. I also just returned from a Moorings charter in the BVI-noticed that they have upgraded a number of their boats to the new pivoting solution that Beneteau is putting on their new boats. After looking at that solution, however, I am more pleased with my folding Lewmar.
