Other than by using the Sailrite fabric, has anyone replaced the original fuzzy cloth on the interior walls? If so, with what type of material and what glue was used? Did you install a foam backing, or did you find a foam-backed material? Did you cut around the cabinetry? It seems that removing the cabinetry would be ill-advised. Tim

I'm convinced the outdoor carpet is the best bet, not the rubber back stuff. I like what they have a Lowwes. Very nice, looking, can put bleach on it and it won't hurt it any. Any spray adhesive.

wall covering

Several years ago we gutted and redid the interior of a H25.After removing the old fabric,we used automotive headliner material that has a foam backing.Think it comes in 6 ft widths. It was inexpensive and looks great.3M makes an adhesive especially for headliner material. It was easy to cut and relatively easy to place on the walls.Need two pairs of hands to manage, and patience.

I opted to remove and paint

I opted to scrape off all of the mildewed foam backed fabric and paint the "walls" with Brightsides off white paint that matches the interior perfectly. After scraping off all of the residue and foam, and a good wire brushing and sanding, I have eliminated all potential for future mold and mildew odor except for berth cushions. The boat looks fresh and new and smells fresh all the time. No further maintenence in that regard. Rail leaks can be easily spotted and repaired, not hidden behind the old fabric. PS, the fabric looked great, but the foam behind the fabric was black with mold and mildew.

Outdoor carpet

We used outdoor carpet from Home Depot. It was easy to cut. Rather then use glue we found carpet tape worked quite nicely.

Tim, Did you find a place to dock your boat? Mind if I ask the price? Hope the newly weds are good!

indoor/outdoor carpet

We got indoor/outdoor carpet (no foam backing) from a local carpet store because they had a better choice of colors. To do a 30 foot boat I calculated we would need a 10x12 piece of carpet. We wanted something light in color and the selections at lowes or home depot were too dark. The carpet was easy to cut and we used carpet "cement" that was safe to use on fiberglass. We used a regular floor trowel to put the goop on and because it was runny it was kind of messy to work with. In a couple of places I used too much cement and it blead through the carpet. We always rate our projects on a scale of 1 to 10 and we rated this project an 8 or 9. Really improved the looks of the interior. We removed the cabinetry that made up the galley and the nav station in order to really clean the inside of the hull.

No more hull liner

Ditto what Jim said. I used Kilz paint with mold inhibitor. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks for suggestions and ideas.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. It could be a 4th of July weekend project! I'm still looking for a slip; they are rare down here. Tim

I was waiting to see.....

if anyone cut around the cabinets or removed them to do this. Oh well....Tim, I thought I found you a slip at a friend of a friends waterfront home on soldier's creek, but he decided to keep it vacant for a future vessel. I'll keep looking/listening.....Gary
