There are 2 sets of zincs on our Volvo saildrive. One set (smaller ones) when removed looked to have some kind of blue adhesive. Any idea what it is? The larger zinc was a pig to remove and eventually I had to cut it off because the hexscrew got rounded. When I replace them I was also thinking of using some kind of waterproof lubricant on the threads so they are easier to remove next year.

Any comments would be appreciated.

A lot of the saildrives zincs use a factory applied blue locktite to keep the bolts from falling out

The locktite should seal the threads as grease would keep the locktite from working

I have one large zinc on my Volvo saildrive. You must coat the bolts because dissimilar metals corrode (zinc anode/ss bolts/aluminum saildrive). Check the manual for recommended lubricant. Locktite is used to keep bolts from loosening, but should be unnecessary because the zinc depresses when the bolt is tightened. A waterproof grease is needed which doesn't conduct electricity (of electrolysis).

Anyone have a engine manual for a Volvo Sail motor, I believe a 2003 model?

You don't want to lubricate the screws. They are not supposed to come off easily.
