I am purchasing a new 423 soon and need to make a decision on purchasing the Beneteau 423 with the volvo engine are pay for an upgrade to a yanmar. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks!
... the standard Volvo engine on the 423 is a 55HP, high-torque/low rev Volvo. Every review on the boat mentions the quietness and speed under power of the 423 with the Volvo. I completely agree that in almost all cases, bigger is better. This may be the exception. Full discolsure: I have a 423 on order and it will have the Volvo engine in it.
It's all about personal preference. There are benefits to both engines. Congratulations Joe on the new boat - the only 423 I've been on has the Volvo and it runs very smoothly. Best, Trevor
