The sea hood over the main sliding hatch has apparantly delaminated because it is very springy on the starboard side. Does anyone know how to remove the hood. This seems necessary in order to repair it. Is there anyone else with this problem?

uncaulk, unscrew

pull the caulking out from around the edge, then there are about 9 screws to remove, then just lift the cover up.

Not familiar with V32....

Charlie: I'm not familiar with the seahood on the Vision 32. To add to Howards post, I would also use something like the Island Girl Pink to help soften the caulking after you have cut it. You want to be careful to make sure that the seahood is loose before trying to lift it. If you have delamination, the structure is even more weakened.

Howard was right!

Thanks Howard. There are 8 screws holding the sea hood down. 3 port, 3 stbd and 2 on the front part. Are your screws plainly visible or covered by gelcoat? The ones on my boat had been covered by gelcoat and were not visible. Charlie

Sounds Fishy !!!

Charlie, I have a 1990 Vision 32. I may be misunderstanding, but something sounds fishy. 1. Why are your screws covered by Gel-Coat. 2. Your Turtle is delaminated. Maybe a repairman or the former owner did an improper repair. If so, do you have any recourse? My Turtle has caulk around the edges, starboard, forward, and port. The screws are in plain view, maybe a little smear of caulk but plainly visible. Good Luck with it!!! Daddy's Dream

Hello Tom nothing fishy

The previous owner was trying to amateurishly repair some crazing and covered the screws in the process. Are your screws visible? The core used in the sea hood lamination was 4 x 4 squares of 1/4" plywood. The lamination at the aft end gave way and water got into the squares and travelled, ergo the delamination. If yours feels real springy at the aft end take a look.
