I think he escaped by going under. Way too close. I hope that's not his regular job.
I've read that in older days of lauching ships prisoners were given the job of knocking the block out. If they survived they would be freed. Or could be legend.

I don't get why we still launch ships this way. Seems like you could design the entire platform so it could be lowered and then float the ship off... or use a lock-type system and build the ship in a trough and then float it when you are done.

Do those amphibious trucks have any propulsion other than the tires when in the water?
I didn’t see anything, but surprised the tires would provide a lot of forward thrust.
