For you cubical dwellers who are addicted to watching my SPOT, I suggest keeping an eye on Jimm at:

and his blog:

I couldn't quite understand the several people who have told me they check my SPOT several times a day until events stopped me here and I started tracking Jim's progress. The surprising thing for me has been that, every time I look at one of his fixes, I can visualize exactly where he is. Switching to satellite view confirms it. Two trips down the ICW have engraved every inch of it on my mind.
I'm sitting here before dawn on the tee dock having coffee and about to cook my last breakfast aboard. As soon as the dishes are washed, I'll be turning off the cabin heater and starting to drain down and winterize the fresh water systems. I'm going to be the one doing vicarious cruising for a few months. Hope the long range winter forecasts are wrong and it will warm up enough to continue in February.
If the winter does shape up like last year and we decide to defer the ICW trip until next fall, we'll still be back for some extensive exploration of Chesapeake Bay in late March and April which are magic in these waters. An earlier start north could get us up into Nova Scotia next summer.
York River Yacht Haven was a great choice for this haul out. It's under new ownership with lots of upgrades in the works but the old crew is mostly in place so things go smoothly. They are even going to give me a ride to the train station tomorrow morning.
