I have an 18 hp Yanmar 2GM20F. At 2300-2500 rpms there is vibration. Below 2300 and above 2500 the vibration stops. Any suggestions for the cause? and corrective action.
We had similar symtoms a few years ago, and it turned out to be a shaft misalignment problem. $700 later we had a new prop shaft and transmission coupling. Unbeknownst to us the old coupling had become loose, allowing the misalignment at certain rpm's, as well as scoring the shaft. Check it out right away.
Long Island Lou:Most of these engines have this spot where they do not run real smooth. You should not be running your engine at 2300 RPM's for extended periods of time anyway. The recommended RPM is 2500-3000. There is always a chance that the prop is not perfectly balanced or something else, but I think it is just the way these engines operate.
