The reception and broadcast to and from my VHS is not working very well after a friend and I did a boat to boat test in clear water. Where would I attach an antenna on my sailboat a "Hunter legend 37" to clear up this problem. Barrie

Borrow a rail mount?

Your antenna should be on top of the mast. If you are within ten or fifteen miles of your friend's boat the exchange should be clear as a bell. To test for an antenna problem maybe you could borrow a rail mount. Run the cable through a portlight and test with that. Sounds like you have a bad connection or a radio problem. Is it poor on both receive and xmit? It takes more power to transmit and low batteries will cause a problem. But they would have to be VERY low.

How long is is your antenna coax cable, Barry...

And do you have any excess coiled up? 'Cuz that would certainly cause problems with both transmission and reception. I don't fully understand it (hey, I'm a plumber, not an electronics expert!) ...but has to do with sine waves...I'm sure someone else can explain it. Btw...you might want to edit your post while you still can...VHS is video equipment...your radio is a VHF.
