Just bought a 77 OD25. Could anyone please give me some ideas of a good permanent location on the boat for a VHF radio. Thank you very much.

Nick, Congragulations on your purchase, I have a O'Day 26, just about the same boat. The place that I chose to mount mine is on the port side of the boat, just under the quarter berth, with the mike mount located beside the exit to the cockpit. With the unit mounted here, you can use it from inside the cabin, for reach and grab the mike from the cockpit. I also have an external speaker for listening outside. i have the perfect spot on my 25.standing in the cabin looking into the cockpit, it is on the right above the sink and it's out of the way but the handset easily reaches up to the cockpit.installs up and accessory switch is right there and accessible threu the drop down panel in afterberth

O'Day 25' Radio Placement

I put my VHF radio under the "ceiling" on the port side, very close to the entrance hatchway. It was a good location for running the wires (where there is an access hole near the light fixture of my quarter berth) and allows for radio use while standing in the cockpit, which I've found to be very useful.
