Hello I am considering a Gold membership to Vessel Assist Association of America. I would like to hear experiences from others who have a membership. Thank You Ron

Vessel Assist
It probably depends on where you are and the dominant service provider for that area. Personally, I wouldn't be without it. It once cost $325 five years ago to move my 32' boat from the main basin in MDR, LA CA to the slip; a distance of maybe 500'. (PS it was not a sail-in option.) It was covered by another provider, but I moved it to VA because of better SoCal coverage. Had to use it on my Uncle's 45' power cruiser when it froze a water pump. Good and helpful service then. For what it is worth. (I have no comment regarding the service level selection.)

Vessel Assist
I used to have a 25' Bayliner. The engine blew up about 15 years ago and I had to tow it several miles with my dingy and 3 horse motor. I joined Vessel Assist the next day. Of course it didn't help me then, but I 've never had a problem that stranded me since and I've never had to call them for assistance either for the Bayliner or the Hunters I've had for the last 10 years. Now I'm afraid to cancel the membership because I know if I do I'll have a problem and need it. I consider it Insurance. I haven't heard anything bad about them. And I've seen them out there helping people in some nasty weather though.

VA - good choice
I have had to use the towing service three times due to mechanical failure or other circumstances. I have found it to be an invaluable service. The last time, we were towed from midnight until we arrived at our dock at 5:30 am. No charge and excellent service. They also have a good message service which is useful. I recommend the service highly. Hope you dont need it, Patrick

Don't leave home without it!
While living in Newport Beach, I bought the service on a Friday at a boat show. Saturday, the shaft coupling unbolted on my way into the harbor and they responded quickly and efficiently. I have used them 2 other times, including middle of the night. Always great service. I wish they had a service in Racine WI. Buy the gold package, relax, go sailing!
