Would appreciate if any h34 owners out there could confirm the vertical clearence from the waterline to the top of the mast. We are taking a loaner from the Chesapeake Bay to NYC and would like to verify that we can clear the 55' bridge on the Cape May Canal. Will check with boat owner about radio antenna or any instruments. Thanks.

That plus the VHF antenna .. My antenna lightly touched a bridge bottom marked 54 feet at Perdido Pass in Florida. The 51' 6" is a good number for the old 34's unless the mast has been cut down a little, as some folks have done to clear bridges.

When I bought my H34...

the previous owner said to allow 55 feet for clearance for the masthead with antenna. Claude's dimension is probably dead on. I'm told the Cape May bridge can be cleared at low tide if you have a shoal draft boat.

Benny: where are you departing from?

Thanks, for the info and I was counting on the low tide. The boat is in Solomons Navy Rec Area but will be positioned at the Bohemia River for us. Shooting for mid July, weather permitting.

Benny...

The Bohemia location will give you an easy jump-off to get into the C&D. Ride the current and beware of big ships in the canal!

Safe journey!
