I have been replacing trampolines on Venture Cats and other forgotten catamarans from the 60's and 70's. Many of the tramps use mast sections with slots for bolt roping and then have laced grommets to take up the final slack. I have learned to cut the trampoline material on the diagonal bias, as this tightens up the tramp nicely (same princaple as a Chinese finger cuff). The bias cut is hugely wasteful of material, but it is worth it in the end.
I am looking for a source for bolt roping. I have sewn my own, but I have a coil of 1/4 inch bolt roping that is fast diminishing, and this size is often too small. I know that Sailrite seels bolt roping by the foot, but I'd like to find a bulk supplier. Anyone know of a source?
My most recent tramp order is a 70's Venture Cat. It is in great shape, just one bent side bar, which I'll attempt to straighten. The fiberglass, aluminum mast and frame and SS standing rigging will be giving service for many years to come. And she just looks fast!
