I recently bought a MacGregor Venture 24 which I am having a blast sailing on the bay. However, the spreaders pivot for folding, and angle back from the mast, reducing the amount I can sheet out before the main sail hits spreaders and shrouds. I saw another boat with a cross-bracing cable running between the ends of the spreaders ahead of the mast, and I'm wondering if I should rig my boat like this, or another way to get more clearance. Does anyone have a suggestion??
