Hi, I bought a Venture 21 yesterday which is mostly complete. The cabin is completely bare, everything was stripped out by the previous owner and thrown away so I am starting with solid floors and wall but nothing else. The gel coat in the cabin looks nice but the cushions are gone. My request is for other V21 owners to give me some ideas about how I could layout this cabin. I was thinking of not having a galley at all and using a outdoor grill for cooking and a cooler under the rear hatch. I plan on daytrips mostly.

here are a few ideas for the boat.

the 21 was my first sailboat. they are fun, easy and simple to sail and keep up. and its big enough to stay on for a couple of days if you arent the type of preson that thinks camping can only be done in a big room with lots of amenities... i thoroughly enjoyed mine.

1970 Venture by Macgregor 21 Clayton, NC
Before anyone can provide valid comments to answer your question, we have to know what year the boat was built as there were changes over the years.

As far as the cabin arrangement there were two major changes. The first was in 1970. In that year the draft of the V21 was reduced from 18'' to 12". This meant that in the post 1970 models the keel housing ran down the middle of the cabin from just behind the mast to under the cockpit. This split the cabin with a short wall about 10' tall. The cabin interior was basically the interior of the hull with stringers to create the births under the cockpit and a bulkhead that created the front of the V birth, and provided structural integrity to the hull.

This cabin arrangement lasted till about 1974 when they added an interior liner to the hull that had molded in fixtures. A version of this lasted through the end of production.

These pics will be helpful, thanks. I was wondering if anyone else had some pics of v-berth modifications. Maybe someone has made a removable table for the seating area.
