planning on alot of overnighters and wondering for those that know ,,how stuffy is it in the 23.5 as there is only one hatch at the bow for air to circulate? have seen on the newer brands a window has been installed in the riser below the cockpit seat can this be done with the 23.5 /1993 model without running into an end result of having structure /strength damage? does this added window have any pros/cons? any tricks or ideas to keep from stale air all night ? thanks

Look at the "Windscoop" . There are a couple of this type of ventilator, and they work pretty well.. You have to fiddle with them a little to find how it works best on your boat but they work well if there is a slight breeze.. With the companionway open and one of these on the hatch, ventilation is fine.. This site has them as well as Defender and West Marine, etc.. Twelve volt fans are good for when there is no breeze.. I find the little 6" automotive ones that are available in discount stores to work well.. but watch your battery ..

stuff 101

Stuffiness is a factor of the following:
The ability to get air in (is wind scoop above)
The ability to get air out (leave the companion way open)
The terrain you anchor in (nearby high cliffs result in lower wind velocity at water level)
The actual wind speed.

For what it is worth my 30' Catalina, 37.5 Hunter and 40.5 hunter all suffer from stuffiness at times. Most of the time it has not been a problem.
