Hi peggy , we started with odores inside ,then I ordered your book ,and learned alot I had odor in the cabin , So I swiched to fresh water flushing. I added a small holding tank next to the head and fill it with water bottles from the sink. odores are gone inside 100% now they come from the vent when you pump the toliet, I tryed odorless and now Im trying k.o. I am uping the dose , but no releaf . Its fine untill you start pumping . the holding tank is in the back it has a pretty short vent line. 5/8 or 3/4 size vent line. we tryed white vinager to. its a catalina 250 2002 thanks Sean

Where does the vent go?

Describe the path and where it ends up--a thru-hull, or inside a rail stanchion? And when you tried Odorlos, how did you use it? 'Cuz when it's used according to directions, odor out the vent is very rare.

vent

The vent goes to a thru-hull, a chrome end with a screen . I pored a measured amount down the bowl , I fogot how much. To day we went to the pump out , and I pored k.o. down the discharge thru-hull . We slept over and didnt notice strong odors the next day . It has been cooler at night too in CT. Ill reread the instructions again on the odorless , mybe I didnt give it enough time to work.

Odorlos and K.O. should work immediately

But they won't if you didn't thoroughly rinse ALL of any chemical product out of the tank before you use 'em. I hear from a lot of people who think that it's only necessary to add a little Odorlos to the tank once and that's all till the tank is pumped out. They obviously didn't read the directions...'cuz the directions clearly say that more must be added at least once a week, possibly even more often in very hot weather. It should be added immediately after pumpout...and again when you come back aboard if you pumpout last thing before the boat will sit. Always flush a tank product down the toilet, don't put it down the deck pumpout fitting. 'Cuz if there's any sag or horizontal run in the tank pumpout line, whatever is poured down the the pumpout fitting will make only as far as gravity will take it...then sit there in the line instead of getting into the tank. So add it to the tank via the toilet, making sure pump enough times to move it all the way TO the tank, or it'll just sit the head discharge line too, but only until enough flushes have gone through to get it the rest of way...which isn't great, but better than sitting in the pumpout line till it's pumped out.

Thanks , I was thinking you had to add it only once. I will start over and try again. Thanks for the help !
