Hi.:)
I own V-257; I'm wondering: are there any Vegas in the Miami area? If
the answer
is 'yes', why not meet one of these weekends at Pumpkin Key (off Key Largo).
Or any other suggestion?

Wilhelm,
I'll be going through your neck of the mangroves on my way to Dania sometime in June, maybe we can work something out.

Hi Frank;
sure thing- just let me know when you're around the Upper Key's area.
I'll be
more than happy to meet you.

Hello Wilhem

I also own a Vega and keep it Coconut Grove. How many
responses have you gotten from the area.

Hmmmm... Recent posts from the Eastern US along these lines have got me thinking.

There are at least a dozen Vegas in the Miami area i believe, a half dozen AVA members within sailing distance for a long weekend and sixteen more in the Chesapeake Bay area. There are also almost two dozen AVA Members in New England and New York.

Could this be the genesis of an East Coast Rendezvous?

Why not?

There are nearly three times as many Vegas on the Eastern seaboard as in the Pacific Northwest (Southwest for our Canadian friends) and these numbers do not include those who are not AVA members(Which likely means that there are twice that many).

You could alternate years hosting the Rendezvous in the North and South like they have begun in the West alternating Canada and the US hosting. Come up with a plan, however informal, and I will help get the word out.

Hi Chuck and all other Vega owners!!

Speaking of Rendezvous' , the Albin Cruisers List is having their
annual New England Rendezvous in Jamestown, RI July 19-21 at the Conanicut
Marina. All area Vega owners are most welcome to come and join us. We
have 7 or 8 boats booked at the marina so far and about a 1/2 dozen people
driving in from around New England. There will be a dinner get together on
Saturday night and Newport is just across the from the marina, accessible
via water taxi(I'm planning on spending some time in the Armchair Sailor
buying books...)
The more the merrier!!

Hi Tim!

Very timely of you to mention this just in time for me to include it in the next issue of "Fair Winds" (I am conveniently a month late with No.8). I have misplaced the information you sent me previously.

BTW, I will be on my annual pilgrimage to the homestead in Vermont at that time so there is a (slim) possibliity that Laura and I can drive down for your event. Now that would be great. I could cover both Rendezvous' this summer!

Hi Chuck!

It would be great if your could stop by during your visit to
Vermont.. Where abouts are you going to be in Vermont? One of our members
is in the Burlington area. He has a 1975 Albin 25 that he totally rebuilt,
spent about $30k on it. Looks beautiful in it new dark green AwlGrip
coating. Too many modifications to mention here and I hope to do a photo
essay of it when he comes to Jamestown for the Rendezvous. Below are the
specifics of the Rendezvous:
