Hi,
Can someone with a Vega on a trailer please help with the following
information?
I need to know the horizontal fore/aft measurement from the centerpoint
between the two axles to a vertical line plumbed down from the very tip
of the bow. From pictures found on the 'net it seems to be about 16 ft
or 4.92m.

Thanks!

Peter.

Hi Peter

search in this forum for "center of gravity", I asked pretty much the
same question.

I just had a trailer built for my Vega and am hauling out this Friday. I
made the bow stop adjustable fore and aft in order to vary the tongue weight.
After Friday I'll post pictures and measurements for the group. I'm aiming
for 800-1000 lbs of tongue weight. Trailer empty has about 300 lbs tongue
weight. Bill Bach V1071

Hi Peter,
I found the measurement from the centerpoint between the two axles to a vertical line plumbed down from the very tip of the bow to be 14 feet and 3 inches. I hope this is of help to you.

Thanks to all who replied to my querey on trailer measurements. I did
the suggested search for "center of gravity". From all the input, the
measurement from bow to centre between axles varies from 4.34m to
4.75m. I think that tongue length is a factor in hitch weight, so
maybe the shorter-measurement trailers have shorter tongues. Also,
the distance between axles is a variable, so an adjustable bow stop
seems to be a good idea.
