Hi group,First post here. I am looking for advise how to fix a Vega hatch arm. See photo's.The htach arme, which I believe to be the original, has no friction/resistance left.I can imagine that the sleef on the piston arm fitted the piston tightly resulting in the needed friction/reistance.Thanks for the help.Dutchsea

I just took a quick look at mine. I am very sure you can take it apart and clean/adjust it. Sent from my iPhone

Mine has no resistance at all. The cap nut is not likely to be hand tightened therefore requiring a wrench to properly operate. This could let in a lot of water if tightened in the open position with a lost wrench. I just prop mine open with a paint stick with the hatch arm acting a travel limiter so it does not over extend. I suppose it would be useful to have a hydraulic actuator attached to the other side like the kind u find on a toolbox lid or car hatchback door. I think maybe newer hatch models use these as well. My hatch arm is I think original. When I open the hatch I "over open" it then allow the hatch to relax back a few cm when it locks open.To close the hatch I raise it a few cm again and "jiggle" the arm which somehow releases some catch inside and allows it to telescope - inner arm disappears into outer and hatch drops.Hope that helps.John V1447 Breakaway--
