Jeff Noland, it is too bad you have to sell your nice Vega. Someone
should snap it up because that was a very good year. Ours is no.
1492 ("Columbus sailed the ocean blue"). It came from Sweden to a
dealer in Montreal and went to Lake Simcoe with the original owner.
We bought it there. They must have sent a whole batch to N. America
at that time. Oh yes, we also have a trailer, must be contagious.
Good luck in the sale.

John,

Thanks for your condolences. Auctioned a "sailing day" at a local
church fundraiser over the winter. The winning bidder was a 77 year
old gentleman who was quite an experienced sailor who had sold his
boat a while ago.

Wind was 25 to 30 knots out of the west, and in Chicago, that means
that there is very little chop - 1 to 1 1/2 footers. Normally on a
Saturday, there will be 50 or 100 boats out on the lake - yesterday
due to the wind, there were only 10 or 15. The Vega handled it
beautifully. We were moving between 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 knots with no
main and 1/2 the jib rolled out.

Wife was convinced she was going to die. I beleive she dented the
Stainless Railing with her grip!! Wayne and I dropped her back in
the harbor, and went out for another 2 hours, with Wayne only
relinquishing the tiller after he realized he might be sore tomorrow.
Good thing it was Linda's church who had the auction.

So, I guess it is less expensive to sell the boat, vs finding a new
wife!!
