Varnish on fiberglass

I recently purchased a 83 Catalina 27, the previous owner revarnished the outside teak while it was on the boat and didnt mask. I need to remove the varnish from the fiberglass without damaging the glass. I have a heat gun but am worried about burning the fiberglass. Any ideas?

razor scaper, then paint/varnish remover. if your apprehensive about using solvents. use super fine sand paper and water. 800 grit or finer will allow it polish up again
