Hi,
I want to check valve lash/clearance and reading the service manual it talks about adjustment once inlet valve has opened and piston is completing compression stroke. I'm not 100% sure which valve on #1 cylinder is the inlet. Is it the first or second valve? I'm thinking valve #1 is inlet on #1 cylinder, valve #3 on cylinder 2 and valve #5 on cylinder 3. Am I correct? Are there any tricks with setting valves on these motors?
As always, the accumulated wisdom of members is appreciated.

Thanks Stu,
It is not so much the procedure I'm struggling with. It's identifying the valves. If I set the valves assuming #1 is intake when it's actually exhaust then the valve timing will be 360 degrees out won't it? I cannot find a diagram which sets out the valve layout. Looking at the motor and trying to relate valves to intake and exhaust ports I think the first valve (looking from the crankshaft pulley end of the motor) is inlet but I'm hoping someone out there will know for sure.

Thanks Joe,
This is exactly the information I needed. The M25XPB has the same valve arrangement as the earlier models. I was assuming first valve was inlet when in fact it's exhaust. Hopefully I can now get her fired up.
Cheers
Kevin
