Valuing a 1986 Beneteau First 305

A friend has had an '86 first 305, in average + condition for sale for about a year, and it hasn't sold. As a licensed real estate broker, I advised him it's probably the price. We checked values at various sites on-line and came up with a wide range of answers, some seemingly absurdly low. What range of values would the group suggest? The boat has a new bottom job, recent survey (good report) and is well-equipped.

You did not say what your friend was asking for the boat, what equipmemnt it has, is he using a broker, etc.? If it is not selling, then it probably is too expensive for the market. If your friend overpaid and is trying to recoupe his money, he may have to wait for the next guy who doesn't do his homework.Could be just be an overstock of boats in your area and that not many people are willing to move a 30 footer that far.

Bill, Thanks for your response. I deliberately didn't say what my friend's asking, because I didn't want to skew the group's responses. As a real estate broker, I also realize that the price is a) not a single, fixed amount and is b) only what the market's willing to pay, regardless of what someone has "into it."  As for details, the boat's well equipped, in good shape, with pressure water, hot water, a Force 10 Stove, A/C, Volvo diesel, new bottom job this spring, decent sails, rollerfurling headsail. Good recent survey. Lying s/w Florida coast. There doesn't seem to be an overabundance of at least Beneteau's in this size range, and I don't think there is a particular "glut" of sailboats on the market around here. Of course, it IS our off season. Asking prices I see on the internet for this model range from low 20's to low 30's. My friend's in that range.  But BUCnet gives a low of $17,000+, which seems ridiculous. So, I was just hoping for some guidance and discussion here.
