@G Man recently started a conversation on being asked to prove you carry sufficient insurance to gain access to certain areas of boating.
This raised the question in my mind of: how many people pay for insurance but DO NOT HAVE insurance due to not having proof of competency. In Canada we are required (please, no laughing) to have a federal government Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC) as minimum proof of competency.
From what I understand of articles I've read here on SBO, proof of competency in the US is a state matter.
I am not at all interested in whether you have, or do not have, proof of competency but only if you have this red outlined clause in your insurance policy:
