I want to add a water tank under my V berth. I have a problem. There is an air conditioner installed under the V berth currently. It is in the glassed in area under the hatches. I know I will have the take out the AC and cut out the liner to install the tank sold by Catalina direct however does any one know if the AC will fit back in?

The boat is a 1990 MK II, AC is a Ocean Breeze 15,000 btu. I have the water lines and deck fill there already. If any one has a bow water tank can you measure the space from the the hatch to the top of the tank.

Has anyone here done this or have it done?

Thanks,
Bruce

I have a 1990 Mark II, I'll be there in a week and measure it if you don't get an answer by then.

Hi,
I have a '91 MKII and I can tell you, without measuring, that there's only a few inches between the top of the tank and the bottom of the hatch. I honestly believe that there is not enough room for any additional equipment.

Have you considered the storage area under the port side of the vee berth? It's not a flat area, but it might be adequate.

Good Luck.

The stock water tank on my MKIII takes up the whole space under the v-berth hatch boards.

I mounted my AC in the cubby under the port side v-berth hatch. It's a TIGHT fit for the AC unit. I glassed in a shelf bracket on the hull and bolted on a bracket to the wall of the inner liner of the v-berth cutout. I added a vent in that wall to feed fresh air to the AC.

It's tight but doable. Measure everything twice before you start making cuts :D

I have a '78 C30 and the previous owner installed a bladder tank under the V berth. I think it's about 20-25 gallons and is used for the head only. It shares the space with a 6 gallon water heater. There's still lots of room in there and the bladder doesn't press against the heater.
