We are retiring and leaving in 3 months for an adventure from Florida
to the Bahama's and on to the Carribean islands and eventually to
the Mediterranean.
Our dilema is how do we change the V-berth into a storage locker for
provisioning, storage and tools and spare parts. We are willing to give
up the v berth for storage but haven't figured out how to get the most
storage from this area.
Help please?

I use clear platic bins with lids that are stackable. They are easy to move around, cheap and stay in place if you tie a line across at the right height.

Sounds like a fun winter plan you have!

Which boat do you have 390 ?

Thanks for your good thoughts. We are planning this retirement to be
permanent or until it isn't fun anymore.
Our V-Berth is large enough to make a great storage area.
Bins are an option. Any other ideas like shelving?

We thought of that, but not sure how to keep them from moving as
we heel. We thought maybe some sort of shelving system we could put
in place...any thoughts on that.

For my B323 vee cabin I got some wire shelving. Like the white wire stuff you'd use for closet storage, but it is gun-metal gray, so looks better in a boat. I think Lowes and Home Depot both carry it. I just cut it to fit the vee, then attached it to the bottom of the wire troughs on both sides.

For you 323 owners, you can use the same stuff across the rear of the quarterberth.

Hi rascal5511

I agree with Ron20324 in regard to the wire (pvc coated) shelving system, Storage is great if you can easily find what you need, the wire shelving using click lock containers would be great depending on how much gear you think you need to take with you on the journey...? and tie down is a cinch.

You do not need to take everything including the kitchen sink with you (your 42 should have one of her own) plan plan and plan for what you need, other things you may need can be begged, borrowed and stolen along the journey if needed.

Have you considered dropping a line to someone that has done this before or no doubt you know someone who has, get there view on it and what you need to take.

I hope this is of some help.

The trip sounds fantastic.

Benjamin
