i take the hylas up and down the atlantic twice a year, 1500 miles each way. this does not include hundreds of miles crusing at each end. i have done this for 20 or so years with a 41ft gulfstar and more recently with 50ft beneteau. any hatch problems with these two boats were easily corrected. the hylus is different story.when going to weather in the hylas any water on deck quickly finds its way below, onto the foreward cabin vberth. in an effort to stop this incurson i added additional hatch closers, three in fact. no luck. the water keeps coming. the only remedy that is successful is to wrap the hatch (EXTERIOUR) in duct tape, gorrila being the tape of choice. except to add that i removed the two forard 8ds and some of the anchor chain in an effort to lighten the bow the boat is stock. question, is bow flexing??, the hatch does not appear to be moving.any feed back will be anserd. thankyou

my bed is wet too!

my hatches are lewmar 70, going to weather in a 25 knot wind last week off santa cruz the gasket didnot keep the water out. I've contacted lewmar they tell me that a gasket kit may be avalible.

44 Hylas, got one!

I have a Hylas 44. Ask away. I've had her since January and so far I love her. She is a project, but is really taking shape (what boat isn't). Drop me a line if you have specific questions. Alan
